Hire a BDR

A BDR builds pipeline from nothing. New segment, new territory, new product. They research accounts, work out who the real decision-maker is, and open the door with a sequence built for that account, not a template.

It's the role for a company entering a market it doesn't have a list for yet.

A day in the seat

What they do all day

Account research in the morning, a short list of named contacts with evidence, personalised outreach in the afternoon, and a running document of what each segment responds to.

What they produce

What lands on your side of the table

  • A researched account list for a new segment or territory

  • Personalised multi-touch sequences, measured per account

  • First meetings in a market you didn't have

  • A segment playbook: what worked, who bought, why

What they need from you

  • A hypothesis about the new market
  • Patience for a longer ramp than an SDR
  • Someone to take the first meetings personally

How long until they're producing

Six to eight weeks to first meetings in a new segment. Longer than an SDR, because the list doesn't exist yet.

When this role is the wrong choice

  • You already have a warm list and just need volume
  • You want results in the first fortnight
Typical in-house year-one cost

$105,000 to $140,000

Salary, super and a recruiter fee in a capital-city market. What a seat costs through BEDA is shared on the first call.
